Oh how quickly things can go from ‘flat out like a lizard drinking’ to ‘dont remember how to makeup’. Thanks to Covi-d and the good ol lockdownaroony I have had a number of Wedding postponements for the upcoming spring wedding season 😞 I really feel for my Brides that have had to make the tough decision to postpone their special day.
Unfortunately I have been unable to accommodate a lot of my postponed Brides on their chosen date next year as I’m already booked. This is extremely disappointing for me and I’m sure for my Brides as well. I understand we are all in the same boat, but I can’t help feeling defeated at this point.

The absolutely stunning Lara on her Wedding Day earlier this year, 12321 #numbersgal
I love everything about Lara’s look for her special day – soft, elegant, natural and timeless. It matched Lara’s personality perfectly, one of the sweetest, most beautiful humans you’ll ever meet. Lara’s gorgeous hair was styled by the lovely @withabbyrowe . It was a pleasure to spend the morning with Lara and her beautiful bridesmaids.

Maddi & Shawn

Ahhhh, Maddi and Shawn’s epic Sandon wedding, hands down the most eventful and adventurous Wedding I have done to date. The location, the other side of Sandon River, is very remote and accessed by boat. I don’t like boats. Like I really, really don’t like boats. When I arrived it was absolutely bucketing down rain, torrential, blowing a gale in every direction. You could not have dreamt a worst scenario for someone that really, really, doesn’t like boats. I had to load all my gear, and myself, into a small boat to be transported to the location. By the time I got there, I was drenched from head to toe and had to do the entire wedding dripping wet. It poured down rain all morning, but thankfully the sun came out just before the ceremony and it was an absolute cracker of an afternoon. Unfortunately by the time I was transported by boat back to the mainland, the single road out was completely flooded from the downpour. Good times.

Maddi’s Review: “Nicky was my makeup artist for my wedding and wow, did she exceed my expectations. Not only was my location extremely remote that she could only access by boat (which I later found out she is petrified of) but it was also absolutely torrential rain and winds. Nicky braved the trip for me for the trial and again the wedding. Apart from that her makeup look was sensational, she listened to me and also advised what she thought best, in the end, the final look was so beautiful, it was exactly what I wanted. If you’re considering a makeup artist that is not only going to make you feel comfortable but also make you look a million bucks.. look no further!”

Rachel & Brenton

Rachel and Brenton wrapped up the year that was 2020. When Rachel booked me as her MUA I remember thinking, “what kind of wonder woman plans a Wedding a few days before Christmas?” I’m flat out organising Christmas, let alone adding one of life’s biggest occasions into the mix. Then I met Rachel, ridiculously cruisy and super chilled. That’s the kind of person that organises a Wedding right before Christmas.

Chelsea & Scott

I often ask my clients how much makeup they wear on the regular. I’ve found that a “natural look” on a client that doesnt usually wear much makeup is completely different to a natural look on a client that regularly wears a full face of makeup.
So when Chelsea requested a natural look on her Bridal Trial, I casually asked the question “do you often wear much makeup?” I heard her Mum giggle from the kitchen before she proudly announced that Chelsea is a Glam Makeup Artist with a 42k following on Instagram. Now I’m not going to lie, I kinda started to get a little clammy. Nothing like sweating under pressure. Lucky for me, Chelsea is just the sweetest chick ever and doesnt seem to be bothered by a prufusely sweating MUA. Head over to @mzdior_xx and check out how crazy talented this chick is!

Bri & Cody

Sometimes the best made plans…. Bri and Cody had planned to marry in the beautiful coastal town of Wooli. Thanks to Covi D they changed their plans to a more intimate Wedding at Bri’s family property on the river in Woodburn. I don’t know what Plan A looked like, but Plan B was just stunning, a gorgeous ceremony on the riverbank of the Woodburn River.

What is the most challenging part of being a MUA? I’m a perfectionist, which is a head injury in itself in the creative world. But great for my clients #cantstop #wontstop until it is perfect.

What is the best part of being a MUA? When a client genuinely loves their transformation.

And what’s the worst part of being a MUA? The anxious feeling you get waiting to see if the client is happy. If I were an artist selling a painting, the purchaser would be buying the painting because they love it. Essentially the client is purchasing a piece of art they haven’t seen, so there is always that anxious wait to see if the client is happy with your work.

What is your favourite makeup style? Definitely natural. I believe makeup should enhance your features, not completely change how you look.

Will you travel for makeup? Absolutely!
