There were seven gorgeous ladies to glam up for Skye and Jordan’s November wedding last year. These girls were such a fun group to spend the morning with. We wrapped up the morning glam with a pre-wedding dance off to calm the nerves! When I say “we”, I mean the girls, nobody needs to see this ol girls dance moves.
I absolutely adore the simplicity of Skye’s bridal makeup. We kept the look soft and simple, an earthy toned matte eye, no lashes bronzed cheeks and a soft gloss on the lips. Your bridal makeup does not need to be “bridal”. You should look like yourself, and most importantly feel comfortable, beautiful and confident.

I hope everyone is surviving the school holidays! It’s been a big week here in G-Town with the July Racing Carnival, the town is bussssssy. I have officially wrapped up Weddings for the first half of the year, with a super busy May/June period this year. What a pleasure it was to be the official makeup artist for the Della Franca family. Maddy, her Mum and her sister came and spent the morning with me a few days before Maddy’s wedding to get glammed up for some pre-wedding celebrations. I then headed down to Yamba on Maddy’s wedding day where I spent the morning at @thesurfyamba (loving the retro reno!) with Maddy’s family getting ready for the big day. A beautiful ceremony at The Old Kirk followed by a reception with my good mates at @wobblychookbrewingco

Maddy’s Review: “Nicky was beyond amazing!! Not only did she make my Mum, sister and myself look stunning for my wedding day, but she was also absolutely lovely and felt part of the family by the end of it all. Our make-up lasted the entire day and night, even through rain and wind. She understood exactly what I was after and was open to any changes I needed (which ended up being none!) I loved spending my wedding morning and trial with her and would highly recommend Nicky!!”
I took a trip down to Crescent Head for the beautiful spring wedding of Hannah and Gav last year. This was my first Wedding at Goolawah Bush & Beach Retreat. A stunning bush location with a large open space pavilion and courtyard to host your wedding. There are five little cottages nestled on the bush property, which is a stone’s throw from the most spectacular beaches of the Crescent Head coastline. Cracking little spot for a coastal bush wedding, or one uniquely themed disco wedding? I bloody loved being a part of this wedding. Absolutely nothing makes my day more than when a Bride genuinely loves the look I have created for her. Hannah has to be one of the sweetest people I have ever met, and when I handed her the mirror to show her the Bridal look I created for her, I watched her eyes fill up with emotional tears of joy. Normally the internal panic would set in as I watched the tears fall down her cheeks, but I was too busy trying to get something out of my eye. What a great group of women I got to spend the day with, thank you so much for having me!
Hannah’s Review: “What a miracle worker! Nicky truly listened and understood exactly what I wanted for my wedding. I don’t usually wear makeup and wanted something simple, but still elegant and special. During the trial, she made me feel completely relaxed and confident that she understood my vision, while being open to any tweaks or ideas I had. When she did my makeup on the big day, I couldn’t help but burst into happy tears — I looked stunning! (Definitely not the ideal start for freshly done makeup, but Nicky immediately sat me back down, fixed the tear marks, and had me photo-ready in no time!) She was efficient, perfectly timed, and fit right into the beautiful chaos of our morning. Nicky, I can’t thank you enough — you made me feel like the best version of myself!”
Now there is heatwave and then there’s Grafton heatwave. After spending the morning glamming up Logan’s girls in the delightful air conditioning, I opened the door to leave only to be smacked fair in the face by the wall of 42 degree heat outside. That’s bad enough on your wedding day, but then add the 354% humidity that Grafton always seems to offer, and you’ve got some very very warm conditions. It’s a good thing these absolute bombshells rock the glowy dewy look, she was toooasty.
One of the best things about my job is the people I meet. Every day is a different group of people from all walks of life. I have learnt so many new things just from the conversations I have with each of my clients. My absolutely gorgeous Bride Marian is a Dr of Archeology and the Groom, Anders, is a Mycologist. I can confidently confirm that prior to their wedding I did not know that you could be a Scientist that studies mushrooms, but boy, once I discovered this valuable piece of information it was my time to shine. My back pocket has been chockas full of mushroom jokes for years waiting for this moment. An entire morning full of carefully filtered in mushroom jokes to the point where there was not mushroom for anything else. I have always pictured a scientist as being quite a serious character in a white coat with lots of potions, but it turns out Anders is actually a really fungi. I’m not even sorry.
Marian’s Review: “Nicky was just wonderful to work with for my wedding. I loved my trial, she was super communicative and helpful and made me feel amazing. Day of our wedding was relaxed and calm thanks to Nicky’s experience and talent. She made my Grandma’s first professional makeup experience a dream and had us all looking and feeling our best. If there is a horse photo you know I am going to take the opportunity to post it. I loved being a part of this wedding, country girl meets country girl MUA. I feel like I am at home hanging out with my family when I get to work with like-minded country girls. I do have to confess though, I almost came home with a goat. But the professional in me could already see the review – “zero stars, stole a goat. Makeup was fantastic though”.

I had a bridal trial with her and for the wedding day made a slight change with eye colours. She did the most wonderful job and brought such a warm, positive and calm vibe to our day. She is insanely talented, so professional and took the time to really listen to what each person wanted, offer suggestions and made everything come together perfectly. It was such an honour for me to be a part of Harmony’s wedding featuring Dane. Ulmarra’s Royal Wedding was held on a cracking spring day last year and there was so much to love about it. Harmony’s amazing wedding dress, designed and made by the Bride and her Mum out of vintage doilies and lace. The arbour made by the Bride’s Sister and the cake and flowers put together by the Mother of the Groom. The vintage styling of the outdoor garden at the Ulmarra Hotel, the super adorable lolly table for the kids (and the MUA), and plant cuttings in vintage bottles for the guest favours. My favourite thing though was the special guest appearance of Dane, at Harmony’s Wedding.
Harmony’s Review: “The best of the best!! Thank you Nicky for getting us girls looking the goods! Also, sitting in the seat and not knowing what you want on the day isn’t as bad as people make out… trust your makeup artist!! I did. And Nicky blew me away with the colour palette she chose and every detail was on point!!!”
Talk about a tough day in the office, I mean coooooome on! I feel like the luckiest makeup artist ever to be able to work with beautiful ladies like these. It was an absolute pleasure to spend time with Liana and her beautiful family. Such a peaceful morning down at Red Rock getting ready for Liana and Lachie’s intimate beach ceremony.
